My aunt died several years ago. She was disfellowshipped for my entire life. My parents enforced the JW shunning policy with the same ruthlessness they did on ALL DFed people including my older brother.
In a recent conversation with one of my parents, an interesting tidbit came to light that I'd never heard before. I always knew my aunt was DFed somewhere around the ripe old age of 18. But, I never knew how old she was when she got baptized.
Care to guess?

i was internet-free, phone-free, television-free from wednesday noon up until today, monday morning.
the wife and i celebrated our 20 years of marriage during the turkey holiday and got away from it all.
tell me, someone, if i missed anything important in the news and what stuff i may have missed on jwn..
Congratulations to OTWO & Mrs. OTWO!!
We were also out of town, celebrating Un-Thanksgiving with JW relatives. So these little apostate grapes were spared the winepress of God's Armageddon fury as well.

every wt magazine has at least one article that asks this question at the end of one of the study articles.
sometimes these questions are in the books such as this week's book study.
they spiced it up a little bit for this book study though.
About 4 or 5 years ago, there was some "counsel" given to elders during the CO visits advising the elders to take the lead in giving "little kid" comments. I think the idea was that if a high-and-mighty elder can give a "Jehovah" or "Live Forever" comment, then the R&F wouldn't feel stupid giving those kind of parroted answers either.
And yes, I obediently barked out quite a few one word answers to show how "receptive" I was to the counsel.

http://myriadhues.wordpress.com/2009/10/23/coffee-cup-analogy/.
a group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer.
conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.. offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.. when all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said: if you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.
Thanks Jeff for an excellent Pre-Thanksgiving post.

monday, november 22. youhadnohope.-eph.2:12.. jehovah's witnesses accept medical help and various forms of treatment.
our journal awake!
often contains articles on health matters.
Some JWs are MORE obsessed with making sure they survive until Armageddon than the general population IMO. They are concerned that if they die before the Big A, they won't be able to be with their spouse in the New World.
Just my $.02. My Mom is a poster child for JW hypo-chondria.

holy spirit...not through the gb?.
Thanks Blondie for all your hard work.
We're having dinner with JW family this evening and your comments will come in handy.

it's a song by rascal flatts.
it really sums up my feelings about the jw's.
i have finally reached a point where i am at peace with my past.
Hey there Jerry,
My heart sunk a little when I read the thread title, for selfish reasons.
Glad you're not totally "Movin' On" from JWN, although I totally respect those who do when the time is right.
Great song.
Hope to see you somewhere down the road on what's left of life's highway.

do you ever pray?.
have you felt, "what the heck?
it's worth a shot"?.
My JW MIL was visiting and had a meal with us. My heathen wife and children were about to dive into the food when I loudly said:
"ALRIGHT, why don't we have a prayer."
and extended my hands to those next to me.
I truly do appreciate everything I prayed about.... well, except for the Jehovah & Jesus part.

you wanna talk about a section in the office floor becoming as quiet as a vacant building in the middle of nowhere.
so she put her hand on her chin and said in more words or less, "if you fall in love, and get married, do you have to marry a jw?
i couldn't imagine people looking at me poorly because i didn't marry a jw!
Senior year in High School.
Two different girls asked me to go to the Senior Prom. Our relationships were strictly platonic. They just wanted to have a nice guy who wasn't going to grope them and didn't look TOO much like Marty Feldman escort them to the prom. I had to politely decline with a lame JW explanation.
The second one actually called me at home, spoke with my Father (JW Elder) first who then handed the phone to me. My parents did have the courtesy to leave the room but I know they were listening in the living room and would interrogate me afterwards. So I put on a Circuit Assembly-worthy performance.
Very, very sad.
